Time for action - altering the male avatar's clothing
We need to alter the male character's clothing to get a unique look from a stock character.
- Select the male character in the Content Manager or by direct-click.
- Select the Upper Body button under the Actor tab.
- Click on the Diffuse channel.
- Click on the Launch button to launch the diffuse map in your image editor.
We are going to add a design to his T-shirt. For this example we are using the Reallusion logo, which can be downloaded with the code bundle located on the book's web page:
- Place the Reallusion logo image over the top of the front of the T-shirt in your image editor. You may have to resize the logo in your editor.
- Save the diffuse map image.
- In iClone, click on the Update button to display the change.
Note
Now is the time to tweak your work or make any changes. If you don't like where the logo is or need to make it larger or smaller, then go back to your image editor and make those changes. Don't close your image editor file until you are sure you are finished. Leave it open to make changes then save the diffuse image and use the Update button in iClone to show the changes. Do this as many times as necessary to get the results you want.
- Remove any image that may be in the Blend channel by highlighting that channel and pressing the trash can icon at the bottom of the right side panel in the Material & Texturing Settings section.
- Change the Diffuse, Ambient and Specular colors to white:

What just happened?
We now have custom shirts on both characters. We could have changed the color of the black shirt in our image editor with overlays or color substitution but in this example we left it black because the logo looks very good on that color of shirt. You can also download the uppers (shirts) in the Code Bundle located on the book page at the Packt Publishing website.
