珠海歷史沿革
History of Zhuhai

古代珠海為香山文化發源地。

今珠海、中山、澳門地區原屬香山縣。

春秋戰國時期是百越之地。

秦始皇三十三年（前214）統屬于南海郡。漢初屬南越國。西漢武帝元鼎六年（前111）屬番禺縣地。

晉以后為東官（莞）郡地，隋屬寶安縣地。

唐至德二年（757），設置香山鎮和文順鄉（唐至德二年更寶安為東莞縣設鎮香山是為“文順鄉”《香山縣志卷一建置》清乾隆版）。

南宋紹興二十二年（1152）設立香山縣。

Ancient Zhuhai was the cradle of Xiangshan culture. The region where Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Macao are located used to be Xiangshan County. During the Spring and Autumn Period（770-476 BC）, it was part of the habitat of Baiyue people. In 214 BC, the 33rd year during the reign of Qin Shihuang in the Qin Dynasty, this place was incorporated into Nanhai Prefecture. In the early Han Dynasty, it was subject to the Nanyue Kingdom. In 111 BC, the sixth year of the Yuanding period during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han, it belonged to Panyu County. It was incorporated into Dongguan Prefecture after the Jin Dynasty and then Bao'an County in the Sui Dynasty. In 757 AD, the second year of the Zhide period during the reign of Emperor Suzong in the Tang Dynasty, Xiangshan Town and Wenshun Township were built, according to Volume 1 of The Annals of Xiangshan County: Setup published during the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. Xiangshan County was set up in 1152 AD, the 22nd year of the Shaoxing period of Emperor Gaozong in the Song Dynasty.

1925年為紀念孫中山先生改為中山縣。

1952年設立漁民縣。

1953年正式命名珠海縣。

1979年升格為珠海市。

In 1925, the county was renamed to Zhongshan County in commemoration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

In 1952, Yumin County was set up.

In 1953, the county was formally named Zhuhai County.

In 1979, Zhuhai County became Zhuhai City.
