Introducing the timeline
The timeline is one of the most powerful and important features and its basic usage must be understood to really enjoy and get the most out of the program.
We can show the timeline for any character or prop by:

- Right-clicking and selecting Timeline from the menu.
- Clicking on the Show Timeline button on the bottom toolbar.
- Then clicking the Object-related track button to show the timeline for the selected object.
Or you can view it by:
- Using the F3 keyboard shortcut key.
The next image shows the timeline with its buttons and controls:

- The zoom feature (slider) as explained in the preceding image can also be moved up and down the timeline to show parts of the timeline that are hidden when the timeline is expanded.
- Collect Clip: When this button is pressed this opens up the Collect Clip timeline where an area can be highlighted by dragging out a marquee over the various timelines, then right-clicking to save.

- Transform: Controls scale, movement, rotation, and other physical aspects of movement.

Controlling action on the timeline
Key frames are a means of controlling action on the timeline. If you want a car to move from point A to point B in 100 frames then a key frame will be created in frame 100 reflecting the change.
At maximum level each grid rectangle represents a frame. Key frames are represented by dark dots in the grid rectangle of a frame. Any action that happens since the last key frame will create another key frame icon at that frame grid. When you select a key frame for editing it will turn blue.
Key frames can be selected by:
- Clicking on the key frame icon on the timeline.
- Highlighting a group of key frames on a single line by dragging a rectangle over them while holding the left mouse button, then releasing the button.
- Clicking on individual or groups of key frames while holding the Ctrl key down to select only the key frames necessary.
