Time for action—editing samples with the Audiofile processor
The Audiofile Processor is an excellent way to incorporate sound files into a project. Let's explore it:
- Double-click on this area:
- We will now see the Instrument Editor which will look similar to the following:
- The Audiofile Processor has our bass drum sample loaded in it and we're going to try and clip the tail off of our sample a little bit.
- See the knob that says END? Click-and-hold on that knob until you get a value of about 60.
What just happened?
You'll see that the sample's endpoint has pulled forward a bit (that is towards the right). This means our sample is not playing all the way through and that strange, pitched tail of the sample is now sounding more normal.
After we've done this, our bass drum sounds a bit better, but now it clicks a little at the end. The Audiofile Processor has a lot of modulation parameters that we can play with to carve the sound to smooth the kick out even more, but for now, let's get some more sounds into our editor.
