Excel files

If you want to connect to an Excel file, follow these steps:

1. Click on Microsoft Excel in the list of available connections when you open Tableau.
2. Search for your file in your computer, double-click on it, and Tableau automatically opens the file.

3. The different tables are displayed on the left, as in the following screenshot:

4. Drag and drop the table you want to analyze on the Data Source part, on the right.

Connecting to an Excel file is straightforward. Let's now try another type of file: a text file.
