Latency

In our design, we can easily see how latency—or the time taken to do something—can play a part. The image recognition algorithm would have to work very quickly. Sending the task of processing images to the cloud would take too much time, which would make our system inefficient. 

The reduced latency benefit of an edge analytics architecture results in a system that is quick to respond. The wait time for visitors at the door is much shorter than if processing information were pushed off to the internet.
