2.prod [prCd] v. a) to encourage someone to take action, especially when they are being slow or unwilling刺激,催促:The strike may prod the government into action.罷工可能會刺激政府采取行動。b) to quickly push something or someone with your finger or a pointed object(用手指或尖物)捅,戳:He prodded at the plate of fish with his fork.他拿叉子戳弄著那盤魚。搭配prod sb. into doing sth.意為“刺激/激勵某人做某事”。
