The cashiers are actually the staff of the Finance Department.But their working posi-tion, the Cash Desk/Cashier Counter（收銀臺/收銀處）, is in the Front Office Department and their work is closely contacted with many positions of the Front Office Department, so the manager of the Front Office Department is responsible for its management and control on a day-to-day basis.The main work of this position is to deal with the guests'accounts and the business of changing the foreign currencies.

As has been repeatedly stressed, first and last impressions carry the most weight.The last is probably even more important.That is the impressions the guests carry home and is most apt to remember.It probably affects their attitude in later discussing the service and facilities of the hotel with their friends and business associates.It is the staff of the Cash Desk that gives the last impression to the guests.

Skills and Attainments服務技能與素養

The cashiers of the Cash Desk typically post some revenue center charge to the guests' accounts; exchange foreign currencies, give the reason to a guest when he isn't allowed to change; cash traveler's checks; when the guests come to check out, handle promptly vari-ous settlement, including credit card, cash, checks, and foreign currency, explain the ques-tions that the guests raise and deal with the complaints about the bill.

In order to do the work well and gain the last good impression for the hotel, the cash-iers must have both good service skill in finance and the excellent quality.Moreover, they are good at computer technology.Certainly, they also can communicate effectively with the guests answer the guests'questions and deal with the complaints in English.
