Time for action - correcting the texture mapping
You have now discovered your first mapping problem as the roof will be mapped erratically. We will correct that problem in the following section:
- Click on each of the boxes one at a time and detach each building block prop from the cylinder.
- After detaching the props, select the cone (roof) again.
- With the cone selected, click on the Box under UV Type in the UV Settings section of the right side menu.
- Click on the Z-axis under Align. The mapping of the roof changes to reflect your choices. Type 6 into the Tiling box under the U section. Click on the Apply button. The next image shows the proper settings:
- With your mouse click on one of the support beams (box) or choose one of the
Box_001
building blocks in the Scene Manager. - Click on the Load Material button or use the Paint Bucket as described earlier to apply the texture to the posts.
- Select the box under UV Type and B or Z under Align. Click on the APPLY button. This will change the mapping on the posts.
- In order to save time, click on the Paint Bucket tool, and then click on each of the posts that have no texture until all are textured, as shown in the following screenshot:

What just happened?
We now have a custom made gazebo prop! We had to detach the parts to texture it as this will allow us to assign different UV Mapping to each Building Block. When attached to the floor cylinder, the child Building Blocks inherit the mapping from the parent Building Block. Detached Building Blocks are covered by one UV map for each Building Block.
Painting option
If you want your gazebo to be a solid color instead of a texture, then use the color selection boxes instead of the texture maps. There is no need for remapping when using a solid color. You paint one and then use the Paint Bucket tool to apply that color to the rest of the gazebo by clicking on each Building Block until your prop is completely painted, as shown in the next image:
