Management point
The management point role is the most important role in the whole ConfigMgr environment. It enables communication between ConfigMgr and its clients. If management point, or IIS, which handles the communication--is not working correctly, clients instantly become unmanageable. Clients won't be able to download policies or send any data to the server.
For this reason, it is an important administrator task to check whether the management point works properly on a regular, daily basis. The verification method is very easy--if at least one client communicates with the management point, it ensures the role works correctly. If some of the other systems encounter problems communicating with the server, the resolution needs to be searched on the client side, not the management point:

Each management point might have a different configuration; for instance, when publishing a management point in the DMZ zone, it needs to be secured with a certificate to work in the HTTPS mode. It might be installed and configured during ConfigMgr deployment or added to the existing ConfigMgr server later.
