Fear of lock-in

Apart from the previously mentioned 3Cs, there is another major reason that enterprises may want to use a private cloud, or a hybrid one: to protect themselves from a lock-in. 

Economically, a lock-in would take the power away from enterprises and put it in the hands of the service provider, which is not a position that the enterprise would want to take because this might mean huge economic ramifications for them in the long run.

We would like to point out that in recent years, the adoption of OpenSource has literally skyrocketed because of this fear, such as the adoption of Linux, Docker Containers, Kubernetes, and so on. It is this fear (and economically, for a good reason) that might be another driver for the enterprise to consider a hybrid cloud.
