Introduced in Windows Server 2008, Self-Healing NTFS increases the reliability of data and operating systems by continuously monitoring and correcting file-corruption problems. Before, a user had to use chkdsk.exe to repair corrupted files, which is a process that interrupts normal operating system operations. With Self-Healing NTFS, the system corrects and repairs most of the file-corruption issues without interrupting the user.
