Matt has logged into Sametime. He's added contacts to his Sametime contact list. Now he wants to begin chatting! How do you initiate a chat? First, remember to check a person's Sametime status. If the status icon indicates they're available for a chat session, you're ready to go!

Double-click on the person's name and the basic chat window will appear. Simply start typing in the box at the bottom of the chat window and click on the Send button when you're finished. It's good chat etiquette to send a greeting first when initiating a chat just in case the person may be unavailable to chat. Just as you added contacts, you can right-click on the person's name from the Domino Address Book or from your inbox to display the option to Chat. As a conversation starts, your chat window may begin looking like this:
