User roles: An important note

Different actions, such as posting a comment, posting on a forum, or uploading files, require appropriate permissions. It is easier to set up all of these features first, and then configure the permissions later, so for the course of this chapter we will test these features with our own administrative user account.

In this chapter, we will think about the different roles which might be appropriate, so that in the next chapter we will know the appropriate permissions and roles needed to allow our users to contribute to the site. We won't focus too much on the detail of how these permissions and roles work, as we will look at that in detail in the next chapter. However, at the end of this chapter we will have a site complete with collaborative features for our users, as well as permissions in place for users to be able to use the site as we have planned.
