Selected Poems of Chen Lin

陳琳，字孔璋，漢末名士。他先后曾“四易其主”，先是在何進、董卓手下任職，然后投奔袁紹，最終歸順曹操，擔任過曹操的司空軍謀祭酒，掌管記室，負責撰寫書檄。建安二十一年（217年），死于瘟疫。

Chen Lin (177—217), courtesy name Kongzhang, was a renowned scholar at the end of the Han Dynasty. Before joining Cao Cao’s force, he had worked under other warlords of the time, He Jin, Dong Zhuo and Yuan Shao. Under Cao Cao he served as Army Libationer in charge of record keeping, and was responsible for composing military pronouncements and other off icial documents. He died in a plague in the twenty-f irst year of the Jian’an era (217).
