3.6　Beach Evolution Survey

3.6.1　The beach evolution survey shall cover water flow and sediment conditions，boundary conditions of beach，historical beach evolution，recent beach evolution and effects of human activities.

3.6.2　The survey on water flow and sediment conditions should cover velocity，flow direction，source of sediment，sediment discharge of suspended load and bed load，sediment concentration of suspended load and gradation of suspended load，bed load and bed material load.

3.6.3　The survey on boundary conditions of beach should cover geology，geomorphy，plane features，control nodes and beach composition.

3.6.4　The survey on historical beach evolution should cover regional tectonic background and historical changes.

3.6.5　The survey on recent beach evolution should cover river regime variation and scouring and silting variation of sediment.

3.6.6　The survey on effects of human activities should cover the effects of current status and planning of coastline，water-related projects，sand or earth excavation，reclamation，waterway excavation and dredging on beach evolution.

3.6.7　The beach evolution survey should be conducted by means of data collection，reconnaissance and investigation and hydrologic test，and mineral analysis of sediments，dating of sediment core samples and scouring and silting monitoring may be carried out when necessary.

3.6.8　Data to be collected should include the existing hydrological test data，historical topographic maps，analysis and study results of riverbank（seashore）evolution，water-related project data，water resources planning，historical records，aerial photographs，and satellite images close to the water-related works of the nuclear power plant.

3.6.9　Hydrologic tests shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements specified in Section 8.
