第二章 英語段落寫作

段落是書面語言組織的一個單位，一篇文章通常由多個段落組成，所有的段落組織在一起旨在說明文章的中心思想。每個段落均由大致上同屬一個話題的句子組織在一起，旨在傳達(dá)服務(wù)于文章中心思想的一個小主題，因而新的段落表明換了小主題。簡言之，段落是介于文章和句子之間的一個單位，它表達(dá)的內(nèi)容是完整的。一個段落內(nèi)部的句子在意思上是相互關(guān)聯(lián)的，句與句之間有連貫性和邏輯性，不能把在意思上不相關(guān)的句子放在一起。

一個段落通常常由三個主要部分構(gòu)成：主題句、輔助句和結(jié)尾句。主題句即用來概括段落主旨大意的句子。一個好的主題句通常表達(dá)一種觀點，或說明作者將要作詳細(xì)解釋的內(nèi)容，它限定了在一個單獨的段落中要討論的內(nèi)容。輔助句指段落中證明、說明或解釋主題句的句子。結(jié)尾句是表示段落結(jié)束的句子，其作用在于重述或總結(jié)重要論點。并不是每一個段落都會有結(jié)尾句。

以下面段落為例，筆者來分析一下它的結(jié)構(gòu)，找出它的主題句、輔助句以及結(jié)尾句：

We should try to help others, no matter they are strangers or not. First, helping others is a virtue, and it will make our society more harmonious. Just imagine what a terrible world it would be if everyone was cold-hearted! Second, to some extent，helping others is helping oneself. We may come across some trouble and need others' help some day. If everyone turns a blind eye to our trouble and turns a deaf ear to our appeal for aid just because we are strangers to them, what shall we do at that time? 主題句：

We should try to help others, no matter they are strangers or not.

輔助句：

First, helping others is a virtue, and it will make our society more harmonious.

Second, to some extent, helping others is helping oneself.

結(jié)尾句：

Therefore, we should be glad to help others.

從上述段落可以看出，一個好的段落一定會有主題句和輔助句，且它們之間具有一致性和連貫性。因此，在本章接下來的內(nèi)容中，會主要介紹寫好一個英文段落需要注意的三個方面：如何寫好主題句；如何展開段落寫好輔助句；段落的一致和連貫性。此外，為了避免漢語段落寫作對英語段落寫作的負(fù)遷移，還會比較英漢兩種語言段落寫作方面的差異。
