Lesson6 定冠詞 the 的用法

定冠詞 the 有“這個、那個”的意思，特指某些人或者某些事物，以便與其他事物或者人區分開來，但其指示性較弱。接下來我們一起來看一下，定冠詞的用法有哪些。

1. 特指某（些）人或某（些）物

☆ The movie you saw last night is the best of this year.

你昨晚看的那部電影是年度最佳。

（特指“昨晚看的那部”）

☆ The girl in white is my best friend.

那個穿白色衣服的女孩是我最好的朋友。

（特指“穿白色衣服的”）

2. 用于上文中提到的人或物

☆ There is a restaurant at the corner of the street. The restaurant is my favourite.

這條街的拐角處有一家餐廳。這家餐廳是我的最愛。

（restaurant 第一次出現時用不定冠詞 a，再次出現時用定冠詞 the）

3. 用于獨一無二的事物前

the sun 太陽

the earth 地球

the moon 月亮

the Summer Palace 頤和園

☆ The earth goes around the sun.

地球繞著太陽轉。

☆ The Summer Palace is a very beautiful park.

頤和園是一個很美的公園。

4. 演奏的西洋樂器前

play the violin 拉小提琴

play the piano 彈鋼琴

比較：

play erhu 拉二胡 play pipa 彈琵琶

（中國樂器前不加冠詞）

5. 用在形容詞前表示一類人

the poor = the poor people 窮人

the young = the young people 年輕人

the blind = the blind people 盲人

the rich = the rich people 有錢人

因為表示一類人，所以謂語動詞用復數。

☆ The poor don’t have enough food. 窮人沒有足夠的食物。

6. 用在姓氏的復數名詞前表示一家人

☆ The Smiths had a big party in their house last night.

史密斯一家昨晚在家辦了一個盛大的派對。

☆ The Greens like going to the theater at the weekend.

格林一家喜歡周末去劇院。

7. 用在序數詞、形容詞最高級前

☆ Lisa is the first person I met this morning.

麗薩是我今早遇到的第一個人。

☆ She is the smartest girl in the class.

她是班上最聰明的女生。

8. 用于某些專有名詞

（1）用于江海湖河、島嶼、山脈、沙漠等名詞前

the Yellow River 黃河

the Pacific Ocean 太平洋

the English Channel 英吉利海峽

（2）用于機關、團體、報刊等專有名詞前

the People’s Daily《人民日報》the United States 美國

the United Nations 聯合國

9. 用于中國傳統節日的名詞前

the Spring Festival 春節

the Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋節
