Summary
Becoming a manager is a life goal for many. Being a great individual contributor doesn't necessarily make you a great manager. While the key abilities that made you a great individual contributor are still very relevant and required in your new role, there is a new set of skills and many new perspectives that need to be developed. The good news is that most of this is easily achievable once there is awareness. In the next chapter, we'll explore in more detail the personality and skills required to be a great manager.
