This chapter is basically dedicated to Tuxedo administrators and is divided into two main categories. The first one is configuring and setting up a Tuxedo application, and the other is monitoring/administrating a Tuxedo application. It is very important to understand how to structure a Tuxedo application using a configuration file called UBBCONFIG, as well as to understand each and every parameter in the configuration file, their dependency and hierarchy, and the environment variables. For monitoring purposes, we need to know the various commands and tools, how to change the Tuxedo system configuration at runtime, and how to tune various parameters for higher throughput.
