Adding a document map navigation to reports
In this simple recipe, we will see how we can create a powerful navigation system for the report. The document map navigation is an easy-to-use navigation style for reports.
How to do it…
A document map navigation can be added to the report, as follows:
- The table data region already has the relevant table groupings, based on customergroup followed by AccountNum.
- Choose the CustTransTable table data region and set the Data Navigation Style property to DocumentMap.
- Now preview the report:
- The navigation on the right-hand side is generated through the document map. This gives a summarized view and enables easy traversing to the right customer account without searching for the pages.
How it works…
The document map is an interesting design addition that offers an easier way to traverse the report. This can be compared to the table of contents generated in a Word document. To apply a document map to a data region, it is necessary to have grouping implemented.
