Part 1 Technical Introduction

Part 1 provides the technical foundation of SDDC Performance and Capacity Management. It aims to correct deep-rooted misunderstanding of many terms that are considered basic. Terms such as VM and SDDC will be redefined, and I hope you will gain new perspective.

It consists of 5 chapters

• Chapter 1 covers VM
• Chapter 2 covers SDDC
• Chapter 3 covers SDDC management
• Chapter 4 covers performance monitoring
• Chapter 5 covers capacity monitoring

Chapter 1 and 2 redefine what we know as VM and SDDC. Once these core entites (VM and SDDC) are redefined, how we manage them changes drastically. Chapter 3 explains what exactly needs to be changed. Chapter 4 and 5 pe deeper into the two most fundamental of SDDC management, which are performance and capacity.
