Patients in acute care are having their vital signs monitored by low-power wireless sensors where the data can be analyzed remotely. There are several startups, such as Proteus Digital Health, that are developing pill-sized ingestible sensors. Proteus makes a digestible sensor pill that, in combination with a sensor patch worn on skin, monitors when and how often patients are taking their pills.
