The color wheel
The foundation of the color theory is based on the color wheel, a circular diagram of colors developed by a well known English scientist, Sir Isaac Newton, in 1666. There are various versions of the color wheel, but the basics stay the same. The most common version of the color wheel is the RYB (red-yellow-blue) model and it consists of 12 colors. Primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, as shown in the following figure:

The secondary colors are a mix of two primary colors and they create green, orange, and purple, as shown in the following figure:

The tertiary colors are created by mixing primary and secondary colors.
