Making the UI discoverable and giving incentives
It’s human nature to be curious and the pleasure of accidentally stumbling upon something you didn’t know was there is very satisfying. Incorporating little UI rewards or interactions to surprise the user throughout the user's journey will not only keep the user entertained, but intrigued enough to continue interacting with the website to find more UI gems. Several social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, have a visual profile strength or profile-completed indicator that rewards the user for completing sections of their online profile. Asana, a well-known task management tool for product development teams, has a cute unicorn animation when a task has been completed before the deadline.
These little visual incentives create a subconscious yearning for the user to continue interacting with the platform to receive more positive stimuli.
