History of the C# language

The C# language was developed by Anders Hejlsberg and his team. The language name is inspired by the musical notation sharp (#), which indicates that the written note should be made a semitone higher in pitch.

The first released version was C# 1.0, which was launched in January 2002, and the current version is C# 7.0.
