Reporting Services (or SSRS for short) is a visualization service from the business intelligence stack. From the three primary business intelligence services on the SQL Server, the SSRS is the newest one, being first released around 2004 as a part of the Service Pack for SQL Server 2000. Since then there have been several releases which kept the web user interface more or less the same and easy to navigate for the end users, until the release of SQL Server 2016, which was a major redesign of the user interface (and not only the UI) for Reporting Services to better align with cloud services and other modern tools being offered by Microsoft.
