Tabular Mode

When you create a Tabular Mode database on the SSAS, you are using either in-memory or a DirectQuery mode, which accesses data from a relational database on a SQL Server. A great advantage of this mode is a superior compression and multi-threaded query processor for the analytical engine, which delivers fast access to the models from applications such as Excel or the Power BI Service, either running locally or as a cloud service running online.
