Tools to monitor microservices
One of the best tools for monitoring microservices is AppDynamics. This allows us to monitor application performance and infrastructure and gives us code-level visibility. It is supported for all major technologies (including Java, .NET, PHP, Node.js, and NOSQL) and can be installed either on premise or as a SaaS solution. The benefits of AppDynamics are that we can view the server health and the chart application topology. This helps us find and fix performance issues by drilling down to code-level detail. It is easy to track important server metrics and trend performance and ensures that end users are not impacted by fixing bottlenecks.
Using APPDYNAMICS, we can view the servers health and other metrics. It will help to find and fix performance slowness by drilling down to the code. Each application is installed with an agent. This agent works in the backend of the application and collects all the necessary dumps or metrics and forwards these to the master server. The master server presents these reports in a web browser. We can also set up alerts on these collected metrics and generate reports:
A couple of other tools that can be used to monitor microservices are JFR (free) and Dynatrace.
In the following section, we are going to cover some of the most frequently asked questions about microservices and what they are like.
