Big data management vendors
Due to the high prevalence of big data and its use in business intelligence, there are thousands of big data management vendors available in the market, ready to provide all data management services. Going through each of them would be beyond the scope of this book. In this section, we will explore ten big data management vendors. The list contained in this book does not guarantee the popularity or performance of each vendor. The list was created based on the use of state-of-the-art data analysis:
- Alation: Alation is a newer organization, providing cloud-based data services that were created to centralize knowledge about a company's data and how to apply it. You can find out more about the company from the link provided in the Further study section.
- AtScale: AtScale provides technology to facilitate familiar BI tools, in order to query data stored in Hadoop.
- Cloudera: Cloudera is one of three major Hadoop distribution organizations. It provides its own stack of open source big data management and analytical technologies for enterprises. Intel maintains a big stake in the company.
- Collibra: Collibra provides organizations that support automating data management processes that operate with data quality initiatives, master data management, and metadata management.
- Confluent: Confluent is the creator and distributor of Apache Kafka, a real-time big data technology that works as a messaging system that empowers complex data and application environments. This company is incubated inside LinkedIn.
- Hortonworks: Hortonworks is one of three significant Hadoop distribution vendors, and is the force behind the Open Data Platform initiative (ODPi). Some of its initial funding originated from the Hadoop incubator company Yahoo.
- SAS: SAS is popular as an analytics giant, and it also provides a master data management solution to help organizations prepare and manage both traditional and big data sources.
- Verato: Verato provides a cloud-based platform that was invented to maintain clean identity data across multiple data systems, ensuring that new data entering the system is accurate and linking records across systems and within enterprises.
- TIBCO: TIBCO offers integration, analytics, and event-processing software for enterprises and other organizations.
- Talend: Talend's Unified Platform vision provides multi-domain (MDM), data quality, and integration capabilities. The company has its roots in the open source concept.
