I heard about Marco was when he first came to England as a young pro, he was always with his dad Willie.

I first played him at the Grand Prix at Preston and I remember feeling pretty good about my game, I was playing well. It’s never easy competing against someone that you’ve never played before, in his case I’d never even seen him play at all.

Marco made five single table visits in the whole match, winning each frame from one scoring opportunity and anyone who can do that is a world class player.

He made the final of that event and from that moment on all the players knew Marco was going to be a top top player. Aside from being world class on the table, he’s also a top guy off it. You won’t find one person who has a bad word to say about him, a gentleman of our sport and a class act.

I remember one of our first chats together, he was asking me where he should base himself in the UK, I said get yourself to Stirling in Scotland and go play with Stephen Hendry.

One particular thing I admire about Marco is that he has always tried to be the very best player he can, only recently I’d noticed he’d changed some things in his technique, always such a hard thing to do as a player when something has served you well for nearly twenty years. It takes courage.

But he was right to change and I believe he is now a much more dangerous opponent，probably just had one of his most consistent seasons as a professional winning the Scottish open, and beating many top players en route, doing it in a stylish manner of heavy scoring and good match play.

Marco is also very grounded about it all, take for example when I played him in the semis of the 2017 Masters. In the heat of our battle there he was giving his young daughter a smile, Marco has always put his family before his snooker. For me it’s this quality that you have to admire more than anything.

In our sport, most players need to be selfish and driven to succeed, not Marco. He always thinks of what is best for his wife and daughter, it’s a good lesson for me and all sports people out there. Marco shows us all that you can have that balance of a good family life and still be a top sportsman at the same time.

最初聽(tīng)聞傅家俊這名字，是他初來(lái)英國(guó)當(dāng)職業(yè)球員的時(shí)候，那時(shí)他爸爸Willie長(zhǎng)伴左右。

我們的首次對(duì)賽是在Preston舉行的格蘭披治，還記得當(dāng)時(shí)感覺(jué)良好，覺(jué)得自己打得不錯(cuò)。與一個(gè)從未交過(guò)手的人對(duì)賽，從來(lái)不是一件容易的事，更何況我當(dāng)時(shí)從未看過(guò)他打球。

Marco那場(chǎng)一cue清檯五次，每次都是一cue便贏了一局，所以能夠有如此表現(xiàn)的球員都是世界級(jí)的。

那項(xiàng)賽事，他最終殺入了決賽。自此，全球所有球手都知道傅家俊將會(huì)是一位頂尖球員。場(chǎng)上，他是世界級(jí)球員；場(chǎng)外，他亦是一個(gè)頂級(jí)好人。你不會(huì)聽(tīng)到有人說(shuō)他丁點(diǎn)兒的壞話，他是桌球界的紳士。

記得在一次早期的交談中，他問(wèn)我應(yīng)在英國(guó)何方「落腳」？我告訴他往蘇格蘭的Stirling，跟亨特利一起練習(xí)切蹉。

我特別欣賞傅家俊一直盡其所能，努力成為最優(yōu)秀一員。我最近才發(fā)現(xiàn)他改變了他的那套波，要改變持之有效近二十年的球路，從來(lái)都不是一件容易的事。這需要勇氣。

但他的改變是正確的。我認(rèn)為現(xiàn)在的傅家俊是一位更具威脅力的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)對(duì)手，而他剛剛亦經(jīng)歷了一個(gè)最穩(wěn)定的職業(yè)球季，晉級(jí)期間不但殺退多位高手，力取得連綿高分並打出漂亮的桌球，最後贏得蘇格蘭公開賽冠軍。

除此之外，傅家俊也是很「真」的，就以他與我在2017年大師賽四強(qiáng)那場(chǎng)賽事為例，在激戰(zhàn)當(dāng)中，他還能對(duì)他的幼女報(bào)以微笑。傅家俊一直把家庭放在事業(yè)之上。對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)，就是這種情操已經(jīng)勝過(guò)一切，令人欽佩不已。

在我們的圈子裏，很多球手為了成功，只顧自己，不顧一切，但傅家俊不是這樣。他一直以妻女為先，對(duì)我和其他所有運(yùn)動(dòng)員來(lái)說(shuō)，這真是一個(gè)很好的榜樣。Marco證明給我們看，人擁有美好家庭的同時(shí)，也可以是一名頂級(jí)運(yùn)動(dòng)員。家庭與事業(yè)，可以兼得。
