Time for action – Installing on Windows
There are two ways to install Rhomobile products on Windows. We can either install all the products and dependencies individually or the efficient way would be to use the Windows installer provided by Rhomobile. You can download the installer from www.rhomobile.com
After downloading the executable file, follow these steps:
- Run the executable file and click Next:
- Accept the agreement after reading it:
- Now check the required components that you want to install. If you are new, I would suggest checking all the components:
- Select the location where you want to keep all the Rhomobile package files:
- Rhomobile setup is complete now.
- Download JDK version 1.6.0_2 or higher from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and then install it on 32bit Windows machine.
- Add
JAVA_HOMEandJAVA_HOME/binin your environment variable,PATH. To add this in PATH click on Environment Variables in Advanced Tab of System Property. Select Path in System variables and addJAVA_HOMEandJAVA_HOME/binto textbox and click Ok.
You can also download all the components separately and then install them.
Note
Windows does not come with the necessary UNIX tools to install gems ('make', for example). There are various sources to get these tools. GnuWin32 project has developed a few of these tools, which can be conveniently installed using the GetGnuWin32 installer. These tools are not required if you have used the Windows installer.
