Selected Poems of Wang Can
王粲,字仲宣,出身名門。他先是寄身荊州劉表門下,后歸順曹操,并在其府中任丞相掾、軍謀祭酒及侍中等職。建安二十一年(216年)他跟隨曹操東征孫吳,次年因瘟疫歿于途中。他是七子中最為多產的詩人。
Wang Can (177—217), courtesy name Zhongxuan, came from a renowned family of the time. He f irst sought patronage under Liu Biao at Jingzhou, but later came to join Cao Cao’s court, where he served as Chancellor’s Clerk, Army Libationer, and Court Attendant. In the twenty-f irst year of the Jian’an (216), he accompanied Cao Cao on the military campaign against the Wu Kingdom in the south, and next year died of a plague on the road. He is the most prolif ic poet of the Seven Masters of the Jian’an era.
