5　General Layout and Transportation

5.0.1　The ironmaking plant should be arranged close to the bulk material handling yard，coking，sintering，pelletizing，and steelmaking plants.Arrangements of all the ironmaking facilities shall be in accordance with Code for Design of General Layout and Transportation for Iron & Steel Enterprise（GB 50603），Code of Design on Fire Prevention and Fire Protection for Iron & Steel Metallurgy Enterprises（GB 50414）and Code of Design on Building Fire Protectionand Prevention（GB 50016）.

5.0.2　The general layout of ironmaking plant shall be designed in pretty regular function-wise blocks on the basis of and as required by the site conditions and process flow.The buildings and structures in the functional blocks should be designed with their axes in parallel with roads.

5.0.3　Around the casthouse space should be reserved for blast furnace relining and no overhead pipeline should be designed around such space.

5.0.4　The transport way of hot metal shall be defined according to the site conditions，general layout，number of blast furnace，production organization，existent transport way，transport distance，reservation for future development and investment cost and after the comprehensive comparison and balance.

5.0.5　In case of limited site conditions，in designing the railway under casthouse，the locomotive shall be allowed to pass under titling runner provided that safe operation can be ensured and that such operation shall comply with Safety Regulation for Railway and Road Transportation in Plants of Industrial Enterprises（GB 4387）.

5.0.6　In case"one ladle transportation technology"is applied for hot metal handling，the railway track distance and building limit for hot metal transport shall be defined through calculations.

5.0.7　The clear distance between gas piping and hot metal track and slag track where usually the hot metal and slag ladles stop should be horizontally no less than 10.0m；such horizontal clear distance may be properly shortened when it's considered with heat insulation measure.

5.0.8　Under the dry slag pit，the pipeline shall not be arranged.Within 10m of access to the dry slag pit by truck，the hoist and ventilation holes for cable trench and underground pipe gallery shall not be installed.
