Passage 8 The gold is in the fields

An old farmer had three sons. The old farmer worked very hard all his life, but his sons were lazy. They were only interested in getting rich quickly.

When the farmer was dying, he said to his sons, "My sons, there is a lot of gold in the fields. Dig for it, if you want to have it. It is all I have to give you."

The sons tried to get him to tell them the exact place where the gold was, but he said nothing more.

After the old farmer was dead, the sons went to look for the gold. They didn't know the exact place, so they dug all over the fields. They dug and dug, but they didn't find any gold.

The next autumn, they had a very good harvest. After the three sons sold their grains, they got much money, suddenly they understood what their father said.
