Saturday在古英文中的意思是Saturn's day。Saturn是羅馬神話中的農(nóng)神或播種之神，掌管五谷。每年12月17日，古羅馬人都要舉行農(nóng)神節(jié)，縱情狂歡。他們還以農(nóng)神的大名來命名一星期中最后一天，亦即the day of Saturn，英語Saturday即由此而來。
