The lakes and streams of Texas are home to many animals.^①Many kinds of fish live in the lakes and streams.Bass and sunfish eat other fish and the insects in the water.People enjoy fishing for bass and sunfish.Catfish and carp swim along the bottom and look for food.Turtles and frogs live in the lakes and streams,but they breathe the air.On warm days,turtles like to crawl out of the water and lie in the sun.Frogs like to hop out of the water at night and croak.Crawfish and minnows spend much of their time hiding from big fish.^②Many birds and mammals live around lakes and rivers.They use the river for drinking water and as aplace to find things to eat.
