4 Conclusion

The Belt and Road Initiative is a major move marking China's all-round opening-up under new historical conditions. It is an important platform for pushing forward mutually beneficial and win-win development of both China and the world. In carrying out the initiative, China will have to overcome various difficulties and effectively handle risks and challenges. It needs to actively explore innovative ways of implementing the program and continually improve its capacity of cooperating with other countries. To that end, think tanks should play a larger role. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the China Association for the Promotion of Development Financing jointly launched the Silk Road Academy in April, 2017. Supported by its talent pool, the institute will provide services for enterprises to help them understand economic, social, and political situation and law environment in countries along the Belt and Road routes and how to prevent, circumvent and control risks and optimize trade and investment options and arrangements; it will serve the government through providing suggestions to improve its abilities in top-level design, policymaking, implementation of policies, and assessment of policy effect. It will play a role in promoting mutual understanding between China and other countries through eliminating information asymmetry and finding the best methods to balance demand and supply of the two sides and find their respective competitive edges to complement each other; the institute will also help eliminate misunderstanding and promote people-to-people exchanges. Aiming to promote the smooth implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the institute will carry out various training, consultation, special study and human communication activities to help boost interconnectivity and achieve a win-win cooperative development of China and countries along the Belt and Road routes.
